Back to School!

"Play is the highest form of research."- Einstein

I could hardly sleep the nights leading up to the first day of school.  This is an exciting time for the students, but it is also an exciting time for the teacher.  Each year brings a new group of children.   I long to get to know them individually and build a strong relationship with each one of them.   When they walk through my door, I see an empty slate that is waiting to be filled...and THAT is exciting!

We have spent our first few days getting to know one another... and learning procedures.   Everything is very new to Pre-K students.  For many of them, it is the first time that they have stepped foot on campus.    It is important to establish good routines and procedures during the first few days.   It helps them feel safe.   By our third day, the class was already getting into the groove of rotating centers.   They were happy to be able to PLAY!    We all know how important play is at this age... learning happens during play.     I am a big fan of using the display timer.   The children can glance up throughout center time and they quickly learn how to manage their time.   This is the clock that I use..it is free!  You can find it online.

I am going to leave you with some pictures from the week.   Pictures tell a great story!
